The World Needs More Care


I’m Maurice Hamington, a feminist philosopher of care and professor at Portland State University. My research endeavors to understand care ethics and advocate for more and better care in our world.

Research

I have been fortunate enough to write or edit 16 books, as well as many book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, on the subject of care. Collaborative research with other scholars is particularly rewarding for me. I have co-edited and co-authored numerous projects and welcome further opportunities.

40 Years of Higher Education Experience

My graduate training includes a PhD in Philosophy, a PhD in Religious Studies, an MBA in Business, a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies. I’ve published in various areas, including business ethics, feminist theory, and religious studies. I have been privileged to receive institutional awards for teaching, scholarship, and advising.

Public Philosophy

I have been humbled by invitations to speak across the country as well as in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Italy, France, India (virtually), Slovokia, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
